Kuanima is a made-up word derived from the real word ‘Equanimity’.
Equanimity: Mental calmness, composure, and evenness of temper, especially in a difficult situation.
Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize, understand, manage, and improve your own and others’ emotions.
When we say a person is emotionally intelligent or has high emotional intelligence, it means they understand situations quickly, don’t react with strong emotions, and take their time to respond calmly.

Kuanima was founded by Claudia LeBaron Islas, an industrial engineer with training in Lean Six Sigma, and Emotional Intelligence and Leadership Development. Claudia has nearly a decade of experience teaching emotional intelligence.
Having worked alongside engineers, she understands how they’re often promoted for technical excellence and then expected to lead without tools to manage their own emotions or those of those they lead.
Claudia created this company to close that gap.
Her mission is to make emotional intelligence practical, personal, and deeply human.
Through Kuanima, Claudia brings together science, self-awareness, and compassion to help engineers grow from within so they can lead with harmony from the inside out.
